Electricity price in France could jump by +2% beginning of 2021 (+31% over the last decade…)

In addition, in the event of large cold waves, “very short cuts” of electricity were now envisaged in France this winter.

Why?

1 – The electricity sector in France is dominated by nuclear power (70%). Due to the Covid, EDF, the main French electricity producer, delayed maintenance programs of its nuclear power units, reducing their production capacities.

2 – Containments have increased the rate of presence at home, increasing private light and heater/climatization consumptions.

Interesting to read that there is no inflation anyway…
